Multi award winning Winery and Vineyard on the Bellarine Peninsula seeks an Assistant Winemaker to join our team.

Our brands include Leura Park Estate, Jack Rabbit Vineyard, Yes Said the Seal, Cat out of the Bag & Flying Brick Cider Co.

We are looking for an Assistant Winemaker who takes pride in their work and enjoys a hands-on role carrying out the day-to-day tasks & operations of the winery cellar.

The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager - Winery & Vineyard Operations. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to all cellar operations, quality control, record keeping, wine/cider analysis, upkeep and maintenance of winery plant & equipment, grape sampling and maturity analysis, grape & apple processing, cleaning, fermentation management, wine vinification, barrel work, filtration and bottling. You will also be responsible for developing more junior members of the team.

Job Requirements

You will have at least 5 years' experience in wine making and winery and vineyard operations

Currently studying or completed Oenology qualification and have a passion for the wine industry

Proven ability in winemaking, wine tasting and assessment, and wine chemistry

You have a strong focus on quality, cellar hygiene and team work

Physically capable and able to lead and manage workflow

You are passionate about leading and developing Cellar Hands

You enjoy representing great brands at trade and consumer events

You will have experience in a wide variety of tasks in and around the vineyard & winery and are prepared to work across both the vineyard and winery as needed

You are self-motivated, enthusiastic and reliable with excellent organisation and communication skills

You are hardworking, proactive and work well in a small team environment

You have the ability to work autonomously at times

You are prepared to work flexible hours and extended shifts when required

A current driver's license and forklift license is a must and a truck license will be advantageous

Chemical user accreditation highly regarded

Job Requirements

Occasional extended hours during the week (specifically Vintage) and over weekends as required

MUST have unrestricted work rights in Australia
