Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the leading provider of cloud computing services, providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services and more. The AWS Public Policy team is at the forefront of helping customers in regulated industries (such as telecoms companies) maximise the benefits of cloud computing by removing regulatory and policy blockers to cloud adoption. It also supports and facilitates expansion of cloud infrastructure and services in APAC - which sometimes requires coordination with telecoms sector regulators.
This Singapore-based position (other locations in APAC can be considered) reports to the AWS Head of Public Policy for Regulated Industries, APAC, and includes the following responsibilities:
- Familiarise oneself with all aspects of the AWS telecoms sector business in APAC and build up comprehensive knowledge of AWS services and use cases;

- Support cloud infrastructure and services expansion in APAC, where necessary engaging telecoms policymakers and regulators;
- Create external messaging and narratives on AWS' telecoms sector policy priorities;
- Work with in-country Public Policy teams to proactively build and advance relationships with key telecoms policymakers, regulators and decision makers;
- Support the drafting and submission of AWS' policy position papers and represent the views of AWS before governments, regulatory, and legislative bodies;
- Build up relationships with respective regional telecoms industry associations, inter-governmental agencies, academia, other industry thought leaders, and drive direct and indirect engagements to promote cloud friendly policies;
- Drive long term strategic thinking and thought leadership in the telecoms policy space;
- Assess and communicate potential regulatory blockers, risks, and business opportunities, develop risk mitigation strategies and policy positions, and align external advocacy efforts and outreach programs with AWS' telecoms sector business objectives;
- Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, industry associations and partners to promote and advocate the company's policy priorities.
Key job responsibilities
- Excellent knowledge of advocacy issues relevant to the telecommunications industry vertical, including, but not limited to (cyber)security, data protection, and cloud-related regulations; licensing regimes; regulatory compliance obligations; and others;
