The HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring awareness of and compliance with Nutreco's HSE standards and requirements in the area of Health, Safety and Environment.
He / she develops and manages the operational HSE plans, which aim at implementation, monitoring and improvement of HSE policies and standards in order to minimize risks and improve HSE performance for the organisation.
The HSE Manager manages, motivates and assesses performance of a small team of HSE Officers.The HSE Manager ensures connection between HSE and the business operation, to the effect that all operations are performed in such a manner that full compliance with Nutreco and government HSE standards is achieved and incidents / accidents are prevented.The HSE Manager is the 2nd line HSE specialist role, commonly positioned at OpCo level, and reporting directly into to the General Manager, to underpin the overarching importance of Health, Safety and Environment to the business of Nutreco.The level of the role HSE Manager relates to size and complexity of the entity.
Typically, the HSE Manager is a seasoned HSE expert.Job Description: HSE Policy, Plans & StandardsDevelops / drafts the HSE programs, policies, procedures and standards in order to assure full compliance to HSE standards and continuously improve theHSE performance throughout all business processes.Formulates the HSE year plans, budgets, annual objectives and HSE goals for the entity, and, after approval, ensures the execution thereofManages the implementation of new or changed policies, programs and standards and practices, follows through to ensure 100% implementationDrives the development of safe standard work practices and procedures Risk management, Inspection & AuditsManages the implementation of emergency & occupational safety and risk inventory and evaluations for the entityEnsures the monitoring of HSE performance / conformance through inspections; Recommends actions for improvement.
Organizes management tools andsystems to identify and correct potential HSE hazards; Ensures immediate actions are taken if required by the urgency of the situationOrganizes internal inspections, internal audits and investigations and initiates and realizes corrective actions in case of deviations, in order to establishcompliance with relevant standards and deviations from standards are detected and addressed.
Contributes to / assists with external audits and inspections.
Training & AdviceEnsures all relevant training programs, introduction and instruction programs on HSE are in place and executedProvides insights / advice at request or at own initiative regarding quantitative and qualitative HSE developments by means of periodic and ad hoc reportsand/or analyses and provide information for management, in order to facilitate informed decision-making taking into account HSE aspects and implications.Participates in CAPEX projects / project teams in order to ensure HSE standards are fully included throughout all project phases and fully taken into accountin any design HSE tools and systems, Reporting & AnalysisManages local HSE systems in line with Nutreco policy and procedures, relevant legislation, (certification) norms and/or customer demands, in order toprovide insight into the state of affairs in HSE and reports the required information on HSE performance / progressAnalyses the relevant lagging and leading indicators / KPI's for his / her entity, in order to take or recommend appropriate actions Incidents and investigationsEnsures the execution of all activities related to incidents; Is actively (lead investigator) involved in more serious / critical incidentsTakes a leading role in case of (potential) crises and incidents in order to adequately handle and /or settle any crises and incidents ProjectsExecutes and/or participates in various HSE improvement projects for the own entity plant / site; may participate in Divisional / Group projects People managementManages and coaches (project) teams, motivates employees through feedback and take appropriate action when needed, stimulate cooperation, so thatstaff is optimally deployed and is willing to and capable of realizing the individual and department / team objectives.
Communication & stakeholder managementEnsures the communication of HSE policies in the appropriate language and manner, so that all staff are well informed and able to apply and comply with allrelevant HSE policies.Builds and maintains a network of relevant stakeholders / partners, including local Safety Champions, in order to ensure commitment and communicationregarding Nutreco's HSE objectivesOur organisation:Skretting is a global leader in providing innovative and sustainable nutritional solutions and services for the aquaculture industry.
