**The Roles**

We currently have several opportunities available in our Workplace Services team. The Workplace Services team provides support for HIA member businesses and their operational functions including business compliance, industrial relations and employment, licensing, contracting and WH&S across the country.

Key responsibilities for the **National Workplace Adviser** includes:

- Providing accurate advice to members on contracting and compliance issues;
- Providing advice to members on workplace relations issues including termination of employment, dispute resolution and enterprise bargaining; and
- Providing assistance with lobbying and responding to government regulation reforms and activity.

Key responsibilities for the **Manager - Workplace Services Victoria** includes:

- Manage, develop and mentor the workplace services team;
- Identify and report on regional workplace relations and legal issues which will impact on members or HIA, including reviewing draft legislation and preparing submissions and briefing papers, articles, newsletters and information sheets
- Provide policy, research and lobbying support for the Regional Executive Director on relevant workplace relations, WHS and legal issues including industrial disputes, licensing, consumer protection, security of payment, long service leave and workers compensation.
- Handle more complicated member matters as requested and as regional workflow requires;
- Present at industry forums and deliver other relevant training as required

**The ideal applicant will**:

- Be looking for a hands-on role outside of a traditional law firm that provides exposure to a range of challenging legal areas.
- Being passionate about helping people, enjoy practical problem solving and using their initiative.
- Being a good communicator is a definite advantage.

**The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate**:

- Experience giving legal and/or workplace relations advice;
- Sound knowledge of legal principles and relevant industrial relations, contractual and regulatory issues affecting the building industry;
- Demonstrated skills in:

- communicating, advising and presenting information
- problem solving and managing challenging situations
- working independently or with mínimal supervision
- working as part of a team across a range of disciplines
- Tertiary qualifications in law, industrial relations or a related discipline (or the demonstrated equivalent experience in a similar role).
