About the Program
The _Youth Justice Strategy 2019-23 _supports early intervention and prevention approaches of which _My Family, Our Decisions, Our Way _is an example — that is, addressing factors that lead to youth offending. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Led Decision Making (FLDM) is an important feature of a _Culturally Responsive Youth Justice Framework._
The overall aim of the program is to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander & families to make positive decisions to achieve change in their young person's behaviour, safety and ongoing cultural and practical support needs.
The program will support practical self-determination in finding sustainable solutions to a child or young person's offending behaviour. The meetings are held in a culturally safe & supportive nvironment for children, young people and their families and supporters to have their say, be heard and take action.
About the Role
Kurbingui is recruiting for the position for the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Youth and Family Led Decision Making (FLDM) program; focusing on young people and supporting them to create changes in their lives that diverts them away from involvement with the youth justice system and achieve a better quality of life for them and their families.
Our staff operate as cooperative and collaborative teams working to the organisation's policies and procedures and relevant legislations. Our staff are flexible, multi-skilled and able to work with a diverse range of individuals, multi-disciplinary groups and community agencies to deliver high quality services to community members. Our staff continually update their knowledge and skills through professional development, training and further study, supported by the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
As briefly mentioned above, the youth support work position is specifically targeting young people involved with or at risk of involvement in the Youth Justice system. Young people may be incarcerated or on orders such as probation/parole.

- together create a support plan identifying needs, actions and responsibilities and
- implement the support plan in collaboration with the young person, their family and stakeholders.
