Digital Product Design Lead

The Digital Product Design Lead is a senior-level role responsible for leading and shaping the strategic direction of digital product design across HCF's platforms. This position is pivotal in fostering innovation, ensuring design excellence, and mentoring a high-performing team of designers. Working closely with stakeholders, the Design Lead will champion human-centered design principles, enhance usability, and drive the adoption of scalable design systems.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a visionary and hands-on Digital Product Design Lead to drive the design and user experience across HCF's digital ecosystem. In this leadership role, you'll guide a team of talented designers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver elegant, human-centred digital solutions that enhance the member experience and support our business goals.

Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end digital product design process, from discovery through to delivery, ensuring cohesive, accessible, and intuitive experiences across all platforms- Inspire, mentor, and manage a team of UX/UI and service designers, fostering a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement- Champion user research, design thinking, and data-informed design practices to ensure our digital solutions meet real customer needs- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Developers, and stakeholders to define vision, priorities, and design outcomes- Evolve and maintain HCF's digital design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with our brand- Advocate for user-centred design and accessibility standards across the business

About You

You're a strategic thinker and creative problem solver with a passion for crafting intuitive, impactful digital experiences. You bring deep expertise in UX and UI design, and you know how to lead, influence, and inspire in a cross-functional environment.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Human-Centered Design Expertise: Extensive experience in user experience (UX), user interface (UI) design and usability for web and mobile platforms. Demonstrated understanding of the human-centered design process.- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience building effective relationships with product, engineering, marketing, and business teams to deliver impactful digital products.- Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to define and deploy analytical models, testing frameworks and implement member feedback to recommend design decisions.- Design tooling: Strong proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advocate for design and build alignment across the organisation.- Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic design leadership and human-centred design principles.

Desirable- Experience influencing and guiding digital design teams, preferably within the health, insurance, or similarly regulated industries.- Experience working in the healthcare, insurance, or other highly regulated industries, with a deep understanding of the sector's specific challenges and opportunities.- Experience with Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile or similar iterative development methodologies, and how they can be applied to the design process for faster, more efficient delivery. -
- Usability Research Skills: Proficient in usability testing and research frameworks, such as interviews, A/B testing, heatmaps, and journey mapping
