Why this role matters
The Salvation Army's Community Services team has an opportunity for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified Inclusion Worker to come on board to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
This role will be involved in working as part of the National Community Services team to identify areas of improvement in the delivery of these services to First Nations people. Reporting directly to the National Doorways Emergency Relief manager the role is part of The Salvation Army's commitment to reconciliation.
Community Services includes:
- Emergency relief,
- Casework,
- Financial counselling
- Microfinance services.
- National Christmas Cheer program to First Nations communities
The role you could play
- Identify areas of improvement in Community Services' work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and on work with the team on strategies to develop better practice approaches
- Liaise with Doorways State Managers, Moneycare Managers and Practice Specialists, providing specialist advice on identifying areas for outreach to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Partner with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team to ensure Community Services is in line with The Salvations Army's Reconciliation Action Plan
- Collaborate with Doorways State Managers, Divisions and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team, providing specialist advice around how to achieve better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through Christmas Cheer
- Identify agencies/services for potential partnerships to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working with Community Services nationally
What you will bring
- Tertiary level qualification in social work, welfare, or related field and substantial experience in the community services sector
- Substantial Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities
- Must be of Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and identify as an Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander
- A current and valid Working with Children's Check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
