Job Description
The Family Led Decision Making Practitioner will play a pivotal role in delivering a culturally strong and effective service to reduce the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the child protection system.
This role will involve providing independent support to families when child protection concerns are reported for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child or young person, with the ultimate goal of securing the safety of the children and promoting family participation in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families who come into contact with the Child Protection system.
- Provide high-quality case management practices and meet performance targets.
- Serve as a conduit and lead case worker for all Child Safety matters involving the supported family.
- Offer crisis care support.
- Empower families through targeted interventions to enhance their meaningful involvement in Child Protection decisions affecting their lives.
- Lead the integration with the Family Support System and internal Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community services.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A current Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention, or Criminology.
- Or a current Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, or Child and Family Intervention.
- At least one year of experience in a case management role.
- The ability to meet client performance targets.
- Excellent recording and communication skills.
- The capacity to work independently and effectively collaborate as part of a team.
- Experience overseeing and coordinating case management processes and procedures.
- A Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply.
