Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Government Relations Strategist to lead our advocacy efforts and stakeholder engagement in Australia. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Australian political landscape and be able to develop comprehensive government relations strategies aligned with our company mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Government Engagement
Develop government relations strategies that align with our company mission and the Australian political landscape
Build and maintain relationships with key officials, ministers, MPs, senior public servants, and political advisors
Support engagements with relevant agencies and represent our company at high-level meetings
Policy & Advocacy
Monitor legislative/regulatory developments impacting defense technology and AI governance
Prepare briefings, position papers, and policy recommendations for executive leadership
Lead advocacy campaigns and coordinate responses to government consultations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with business development teams to identify government opportunities
Work with product teams to communicate government requirements and regulatory considerations
Collaborate with engineering teams to help stakeholders understand technical capabilities
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead and mentor a team of government relations professionals while coordinating with internal teams
Collaborate with industry associations, peak bodies, and research institutions
Manage relationships with external consultants and legal advisors
Required Skills & Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a related field and 8-10+ years of experience in Australian government relations or public policy. A proven track record influencing policy outcomes within the Australian defense ecosystem is also essential.
