Melbourne Airport is focused on delivering a world-class passenger experience and pursuing growth, and to support our stakeholder engagement program, an opportunity exists for a **Government Relations Manager** to join our Public Affairs team.

Government Relations Manager reports to Head of Government & Policy and will support the business in the delivery of APAC's government relations engagement program and coordinate APAC's advocacy of key projects with industry peak bodies. The role will focus on supporting the organisation to influence stakeholders on major projects and identify engagement opportunities to partner with the government.

**Key Responsibilities**:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

- Monitoring the political environment and identifying issues and opportunities to engage with governments and peak industry groups on to support APAC's strategy.
- Identifying emerging policy issues and areas of risk and opportunity.
- Managing interactions with all levels of government and coordinate an effective engagement program on major projects as well as key policy and industry matters, particularly state government partnerships.
- Supporting APAC's strategic positioning to protect and promote APAC's reputation through regular stakeholder engagement with governments.
- Developing content and briefing notes to support APAC's advocacy on policy issues and manage reputational risk.
- Supporting the development of policy-making and coordinating APAC's engagement with internal and external stakeholders to manage strategic projects.
- Supporting the broader Public Affairs team on stakeholder engagement.
- Working with business units to develop timely stakeholder responses and strategies on key issues / projects.
- Providing strategic advice and intelligence to support the aviation, commercial property, retail, and ground transport business units on emerging issues or opportunities.
- Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Commerce, Economics or Law or another associated discipline.
- 3-5 years' experience in a Ministerial Office, Government Department or Agency, or industry peak body.
- Strong ability to identify key priorities and manage multiple tasks while working to tight deadlines and under pressure.
- Strong advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
