Job Opportunity: Government Relations Specialist

The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping the firm's government relations strategy and stakeholder engagement. As a seasoned professional with expertise in navigating complex issues, they will build relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, unions, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy aligned with organisational goals.
  • Provide expert counsel to senior leaders on government relations and stakeholder considerations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Advocate for policy and regulatory matters that impact the organisation.
  • Analyse political, regulatory, and public policy trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Establish and manage relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Lead corporate social responsibility initiatives and community outreach efforts.
  • Foster effective internal communications within the organisation, promoting transparency and alignment.
  • Contribute to communication plans and respond to reputational or regulatory challenges.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in government relations, government operations, politics, industrial relations, or a similar field.
  • Proven track record of success in government relations at a senior level.
  • Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory environments, and government affairs.
  • Extensive experience working with senior executives, media, and government stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple, complex initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and team management potential.
  • Ability to navigate and influence across various organisational levels and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, with a commitment to ethical communications and transparency.
