Join us in this key critical function within the Utilities team at Federation Council
Based in Mulwala, this full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator role will be responsible for ensuring our communities have continued access to safe drinking water.
This will include operating and monitoring equipment, conducting water quality tests, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring plant complies with all safety and regulatory standards.In this role you will:Operate and maintain Federation Councils Water Treatment Plants to provide safe drinking water to the standards required by Council and in accordance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
Undertake all tests required for the proper operation of the treatment plant.
Maintain manual and computer records of the treatment plant, reticulation and reservoir operation/performance.
Maintain daily diary of works, machine and treatment plant operations to include any incident or event which may affect the works at the present or at a future time.
Maintain all buildings, pump stations, reservoirs, grounds and other works in a clean and tidy condition.
Ensure that all safety signs at the building or worksite are visible at all times.
Ensure that any staff under your control are properly instructed by yourself in the work required of them.
Maintain regular contact with the Team Leader Water Treatment to keep them informed of plant performance and problems.
Maintain all equipment in a state of good repair, liaise with Council's work staff, including electricians, Coordinators and Utilities Engineer to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained at all times and operating efficiently.
Assist when needed in the repairs of the water and sewerage reticulation systems as instructed by the Utilities Coordinator.
Ensure proper security of Council's water supply infrastructure including pump stations, treatment plant and reservoirs.
Ensure that all safety and first aid equipment is maintained in working order at all times.
Assist in the training of other staff members in the operation of the treatment plant.
Work to operator, industry and trade standards to achieve best practice quality control.
Work to all requirements set by NSW Health and Environment Department regulators and State and Commonwealth legislation.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
Hold a Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment (Drinking Water) or equivalent.
Hold a current and valid class C driver's licence, Confined Spaces Entry Accreditation and Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Demonstrated knowledge of water treatment plant operations and maintenance.
Demonstrated knowledge of WHS practices and ability to participate in a safe working environment.
Proven ability to show initiative in solving problems, improving methods and productivity along with the ability to seek guidance and advice where required.What we offer
