About the job
As the Treatment Plant Operator, your duties are to ensure safe, efficient and effective operation of our Wastewater Treatment plants in line with relevant Corporation and Industry standards.
You will be working in a team of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators who will regularly liaise with the Wastewater Treatment Coordinator, Treatment Process Officers, Technical Support Officer, Quality Systems Officers and Work Planners regarding production and quality of wastewater and recycled water.
About Operations and Maintenance
The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater, recycled water and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.
You will:
- Contribute effectively to the team ensuring efforts are aligned toward achieving team goals in a safe efficient manner
- Ensure appropriate responses to significant deviations from normal plant performance are undertaken in a timely manner
- Take decisive action in consultation with the Wastewater Treatment Coordinator/Treatment Process Officer (TPO) /Technical Support Officer Wastewater Treatment (TSO)
- Conduct daily operations in accordance with Quality Management Systems
- Input into development and improvement of management systems procedures
- Maintain Wastewater Treatment Plants in accordance with asset maintenance plans
- Assist trades with plant maintenance
- Liaise with workshops and contractors to organise corrective maintenance of plants and equipment
- Participate in investigations and research projects
Your success in this role will come from:
- Demonstrated operational knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Processes (Desirable)
- Understanding of WHS, Environmental and Water Quality principles and practices
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Required to perform laboratory analysis
- Good PC skills to record data, schedule work, email, order materials and services as well as good skills for completing routine paperwork
