About the roleThiess is currently recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor for our Eva Copper Mine project, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.As our next Health and Safety Advisor, you will report to the project Health & Safety Manager, supporting the planning, coordination, and problem solving of all functional health and safety issues.This is a dynamic, hands-on role where flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly are key to your success.
You will focus on occupational health aspects within the workplace, providing coordination and technical advice related to occupational health, injury management, and hygiene matters.Working an 8/6 roster, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Assist with the coordination of all functional safety issues, including maintaining relevant records and reports.Play a pivotal role in implementing the injury management process.Drive a strong safety culture and liaise with other departments to ensure safety objectives are met.Champion all applicable health and safety laws, regulations, and statutory obligations.Assist site department owners with workplace risk assessments and incident investigations.Conduct on-site D&A testing.Coordinate incident reporting, including work and non-work-related injury rehabilitation and illness.Align health and injury management processes with company policies and procedures, including workplace insurance claims.Assist supervisors and employees with the return-to-work process by developing proactive strategies and health management plans.Coordinate the hygiene exposure monitoring program with the site service provider.Assist in developing and delivering health promotion initiatives for the Eva Copper workforce.About youA genuine passion for the safety and health of front-line personnel.Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety.Experience in injury management and return-to-work coordination.Ability to facilitate ICAM investigations.Ability to conduct risk assessments.Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.Strong computer skills.What Thiess can do for you8/6 lifestyle roster.Site allowance.Eligible for annual remuneration review and discretionary bonus.Ongoing training and development opportunities.Full accommodation facilities provided.Flexible travel arrangements: live local, FIFO (Brisbane or Townsville), or DIDO.Regional housing allowance for local residents, if applicable.Range of corporate discounts, including health insurance (Medibank), travel, and retail products.Health & wellbeing rewards program through AIA Vitality.Salary sacrifice options, including novated leasing.
