**About the role**
Reporting to the Community Relations and Partnerships Manager (CRPM), the Events Officer will assist in the delivery of community and stakeholder engagement through the delivery of key community, industry and business events, strengthening Southern Ports' brand and reputation.
The Events Officer will be responsible for end-to-end management of Southern Ports' events - primarily external events that support the delivery of the community engagement strategy and Community and Partners pillar of Southern Ports' Sustainability Plan.
This newly-created position will coordinate Southern Ports' led events such as open days and will be responsible for Southern Ports' presence at third party community and industry events, including but not limited to regional events, industry conferences, agricultural shows and sponsored events. This position may also be responsible for the coordination of significant internal events that support Southern Ports' brand and positioning.
The successful applicant will be required to work with internal stakeholders at each of the Southern Ports locations so flexibility to travel is required. The successful applicant can be located at any of the three regional ports or in our West Perth office.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Planning, development and implementation of Southern Ports' events. This includes budgeting, programming, logistics and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage Southern Ports' presence at third party events including conferences, sponsored events and agricultural shows.
- Work with port users to facilitate requested events such as openings of vessels, new facilities and launches.
- Deliver event-related actions from the community engagement strategy and Community and Partners pillar of the Sustainability Plan.
- Act as the lead for all cruise visit communications.
- Support external event presence led by other teams such as career events.
- Manage all merchandise and branded event equipment.
**Experience and Requirements**
- Relevant qualifications in event management, community engagement, communications, public relations, marketing or equivalent.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in event management, stakeholder engagement or related field.
- Experience in planning and delivering events.
- Demonstrated ability in event management principles and protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to work with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver events.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Intermediate to high level skill in using the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Excellent project management and administrative skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Practical understanding of OH&S practices as they relate to the workplace.
- WA C class driver's licence
**Requirements**:
To be eligible for this full-time role, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver's licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
