**About the Company**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced payroll manager ready to take the next step in the support office of a privately owned company in the medical industry going through an exciting period of growth.
We are seeking a proactive, motivated team player, to join our small close-knit team.
**Position Overview**:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing and administration for the company across various Australian states. This role requires a high level of precision, expertise in payroll legislation, and the ability to manage confidential information securely. The Payroll Manager will ensure that all employees are paid accurately and on time, in compliance with Australian laws and regulations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage the end-to-end payroll processing cycle for all employees in multiple Australian states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including taxation, superannuation, leave entitlements, and termination payments, ensuring compliance across all states.
- Liaise with Human Resources / Operations and Finance to ensure all employee data is accurate and up-to-date, and to manage payroll-related changes.
- Implement and maintain payroll systems and processes that meet the company's needs and comply with Australian laws.
- Prepare and lodge necessary payroll documentation, including PAYG, superannuation, and end of year reports to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other regulatory bodies.
- Address and resolve any payroll-related queries or issues from employees in a timely and efficient manner.
- Advise management on payroll, remuneration, and tax implications of various employment arrangements.
- Prepare regular payroll reports for management, highlighting payroll expenses, trends, and any issues.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all payroll and employee records.
- Continuously improve payroll processes and systems to increase efficiency and compliance.
- End to end fortnightly payroll processing for over 800+ employees
- Updating and maintaining payroll records
- Vetting accuracy of employee & contractor activity timesheets
- Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries
- Interpreting health sector awards/agreements and contracts in relation to penalty rates, overtime, allowances, commissions, etc
- Payroll administration
- Complying with relevant legislation and regulations (eg Superannuation Guarantee, Australian Taxation Office, State Taxes, WorkCover, etc)
- Assisting with the month-end processes such as the preparation and reconciliation of superannuation, payroll tax and PAYG obligations
- Assist the finance team with any other ad hoc tasks that may be required from time to time
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including understanding of federal and state-specific requirements.
- Proven experience in a payroll position, managing payroll for a medium to large-sized company across multiple states.
- High proficiency in payroll software and systems, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Certification from the Australian Payroll Association or similar is highly regarded.

- Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying and resolving payroll issues promptly.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with employees, management, and regulatory bodies.
- Integrity: High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Leadership: Ability to lead payroll projects and initiatives, providing guidance to junior staff as required.

- Understanding of payroll legislation and processes ie tax, superannuation
- Ability to interpret awards and relevant legislation
- Proficient use of MYOB and Excel
- Minimum 5+ years' payroll experience
