About the Role:
As the Manager, you will:
Provide leadership and direction in the implementation of a broad range of critical portfolios that have a direct impact on how schools support student mental health and wellbeing.
Lead the review and update of policies/procedures within the remit of the Student Wellbeing team to support the successful implementation of the department's education strategy, Equity and Excellence: realising the potential of every student.
Lead and oversee risk reporting processes in line with the department's governance frameworks and enterprise risk management.
Lead collaboration with a range of external organisations/agencies and internal stakeholders to enhance the support available to Queensland state school students and to promote and retain support for the delivery of Equity and Excellence objectives.
Manage financial budgets and processes to support the successful implementation of key student wellbeing programs and initiatives.
Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to supporting all students' wellbeing and mental health.
Lead and manage team members and projects, and establish and cultivate effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders and clients.
Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence, and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies, and other entities on issues related to supporting all students' wellbeing and mental health.

The ideal applicant will possess:
Strong project management skills and leadership experience, including:
providing advice to schools and regions on strategies to support student mental health and wellbeing;
critically reviewing student wellbeing procedures, guidelines, and frameworks to align with the department's strategic focus;
financial management skills, and the ability to manage program/team budgets; and
corporate governance skills and the ability to manage and mitigate risk.
A track record in achieving high levels of productivity autonomously, in complex, sensitive, or high-pressure environments.
Exceptional written and interpersonal communication, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and facilitate stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.
A strong understanding of the factors that influence student wellbeing and mental health, and of best-practice approaches and interventions that can be implemented in schools to support student wellbeing and mental health.
Prior experience working in the education sector is highly desirable.
