The Salvation Army North-West Family Violence Programs (the Program) in Victoria works with adult and child victim survivors who have experienced or are experiencing family violence. The program provides a welcoming and accessible environment that is safe and supportive to individual needs. The Program is committed to ensure that it is inclusive and sensitive to the needs of individuals from all backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex; people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities; and people with a disability. The North-West Program is made up of three specialist FV case management teams in the North, West and Barwon; the FV refuge team; and the Afterhours crisis response team (NCARS) in the North.
The long-term refuge within the Program provides six to eight weeks of secure accommodation and intensive case management support for victim survivors of family violence. The referrals for the long-term refuge are currently managed as a transition from the short-term refuge but could also include direct referrals from Safe Steps.
Why this role matters
The Specialist Family Violence Therapeutic Practitioner role encompasses the delivery of robust therapeutic assessments and interventions and support in specialist FV case management to victim survivors in the TSA FV refuges.
The role will be in instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery. The Family Violence Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children
This is a permanent full time position based within the Victorian North-West Family Violence Programs. The primary location will be Coburg North and the Practitioner will be expected to visit the clients in the refuge premises on a daily basis. and location.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 5.

What we're looking for
- A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent formal learning*
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of assessment and therapeutic interventions is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in implementing trauma informed approaches to practice
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision required
- Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
