About the Northern Family Violence Program

The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) is the lead provider of integrated family violence services in the northern metropolitan region. This program aims to deliver comprehensive support services to victim survivors of family violence and their children.

The NSFVS provides a range of specialist family violence programs, focusing on addressing the emotional and practical needs of victim survivors and their children. The service seeks to empower them to maintain a life free from violence while staying safely within their community.

Your Opportunity

This role presents an opportunity to develop and support an understanding of therapeutic readiness for practitioners referring to family violence counseling. As a Family Violence Therapeutic Referral Specialist, you will:

  • Enable the flow of family violence counseling referrals to members of the Counseling Support Alliance
  • Prioritize victim survivor voice and self-agency in referrals made to family violence counseling
Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for advocating to services to expand their understanding of the negative impact of engaging in multiple service system responses concurrently. Your skills and experience will play a crucial role in supporting practitioners to:

  • Empower victim survivors and their children through education and awareness-raising initiatives
  • Develop effective strategies to address family violence and promote healing and recovery
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require a minimum Bachelor's level qualification in Social Work or recent employment in the family violence sector. You must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
