Our Federal Government client is seeking a
**Economic and Community Benefits Program Officer **to manage and implement the development and delivery of programs

**Overview of the position**

The team is responsible in ensuring effective engagement and policy decision opportunities are implemented for Indigenous Peoples via a co-operative approach between the Government and Indigenous Peoples, such as access to economic and employment benefits are provided; and that cultural heritage and environment associated with the proposed facility is respectfully managed in partnership with the relevant Traditional Owners.

**About the role**:

- Manage engagement across Government to secure and implement funding to assist in project delivery
- Coordinate delivery of any funded agreements between Government and Traditional Owners
- Develop and manage the implementation of the department's Indigenous employment strategy, education programs, and training support
- Coordinate Indigenous business engagement and procurement
- Develop and implement Indigenous engagement goodwill projects, including returning to country initiatives, Indigenous sponsorships/grants program, inclusion/reconciliation events
- Provide secretariat support for any developed Indigenous stakeholder advisory working groups

**Ideally, you will have**:

- Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous Australians, high level ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people, and capability and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency
- Personal drive and the ability to adapt to changing priorities to deliver outcomes under pressure and exercise sound judgement in strategically handling complex and sensitive work
- A strong understanding of government processes, including Cabinet and legislation processes
- Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching and performance management skills
- Able to undertake regular travel between Adelaide and regional areas
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and ability to provide advice and prepare written reports

**Desirable, but not essential**:

- Experience in economic development or program delivery.
- Tertiary qualification in business, economic or legal studies or equivalent relevant experience
