Job Title: Chief Economic Development Officer

The role of Chief Economic Development Officer involves driving the development of economic opportunities for a community, fostering growth and prosperity through business strategy and investment attraction.

This position requires a seasoned executive with experience in economic development, business planning, and team leadership. You will have a strong capacity for data-driven decision-making, financial management, and compliance governance.

The ideal candidate will have a background in strategic planning, business development, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to analyze viability and impact, prepare critical tender submissions, and manage complex networks.

You will work closely with senior executives to develop and implement strategic plans, focusing on investment attraction, business growth, and community-focused enterprise development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing economic development strategies to drive growth and prosperity for the community.
  • Leading business development initiatives to attract investments and foster partnerships.
  • Analysing viability and impact, preparing tender submissions, and managing complex stakeholder networks.
  • Working with senior executives to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Mentoring and coaching local staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in economic development, business planning, and team leadership.
  • Strong capacity for data-driven decision-making, financial management, and compliance governance.
  • Ability to analyse viability and impact, prepare critical tender submissions, and manage complex networks.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, or similar.
