Overview

About Your New Role
You will join the SVPHM Central Sterilising team to support Surgical Services and related departments requiring instrument reprocessing. The role involves preparation, sterilisation and delivery of equipment and supplies to clinical areas.

About You
As an Instrument Technician you will bring experience in instrument technology and a willingness to contribute to the team. Your skills will include:
Completion of Certificate 3 or 4 Instrument Technician course
Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical instrumentation handling and care
Ability and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment
Computer/instrument tracking skills

Role Responsibilities
Describe the process flow for instrument handling and sterilisation, including washing, checking, wrapping, sterilising and delivery of instruments to the sterile store room and operating theatres. The description also details organisational context and expectations for patient safety, quality and risk management, and adherence to NSQHS standards.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications:
Instrument technician qualification (Certificate III) from an accredited institution
Registered with AHPRA (if applicable to role)
National Criminal History Check
Skills and Experience:
Ability to maintain collaborative relationships within a multidisciplinary team
Ability to work flexibly within facility services
Infection control and safety awareness; knowledge of sterilisation principles
Effective communication, planning and time management
Experience in sterile processing preferred
Other requirements and responsibilities include compliance with hospital policies, ability to work independently or with supervision, and capacity to perform physical duties of the role.
