Instrument Handling Specialist

The Central Sterilising Department at St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) is seeking an Instrument Handling Specialist to support Surgical Services and related departments requiring instrument reprocessing.

The role involves preparation, sterilisation and delivery of equipment and supplies to clinical areas. This includes washing, checking, wrapping, sterilising and delivery of instruments to the sterile store room and operating theatres.

Responsibilities:

  • Describe the process flow for instrument handling and sterilisation in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide effective communication, planning and time management skills.
  • Maintain infection control and safety awareness; knowledge of sterilisation principles.

Requirements:

  • Instrument technician qualification (Certificate III) from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work flexibly within facility services.
  • National Criminal History Check.
