**Quality Specialist - Patient Safety**

The Quality Specialist - Patient Safety advises on, actions, and assures the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient safety topics including incident management, licensing and compliance and clinical communication. The Quality Specialist is a technical referent on clinical incidents management, licensing and compliance and clinical communication as well as contributing to other quality support requirements.

The position engages in and contributes to collaboration with national and international personnel, quality teams, organisational leaders, and operational managers to assure best practice, continuous quality improvement, patient-centeredness, staff vitality, patient safety, positive patient experiences, and optimal clinical outcomes, staff vitality, patient safety, positive patient experiences, and optimal clinical outcomes.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**
- Undertakes evaluation and mapping of clinical incidents management capacity and competencies in pertinent personnel and committees in respect of the speciality topic
- Participates prominently in the clinical governance of Icon's national and international portfolio through bringing specialist technical knowledge into systems designs, plans, documents, quality committees, meetings, discussions, communications, and other forms of workforce engagement
- Provides technical advice and action that ensures full systems functioning, remedying problems as these arise
- Responds to adverse events guiding structured investigation and technical analysis that embodies continuous quality improvement models
- Identify risks and ensures that these are communicated and mitigated
- Provides specialist knowledge in the interpretation, implementation, and maintenance of all accreditations, national quality assurance standards or regulatory standards to match external requirements
- Provides specialist advice to reduce risks to patients, visitors, and staff in the context of any form of emergency
- Supports the development of preparedness and implementation guidance with specialist content

**Qualifications, Skills & Experience**

**Mandatory**
- Qualifications in the specialty field or qualifications in a clinical discipline with extensive healthcare quality or accreditation support experience
- Extensive practical experience in health services delivery
- Knowledge of ACHS, ACHSI, JCI standards and processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Registration with AHPRA or similar authority

**Desired**
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
- Lean, Six-Sigma qualifications (or similar)
- Member of the Australasian Association for Quality in Health Care or similar professional organisation
- Research skills and experience
- Mentoring, coaching, and training skills
