Position OverviewANC is looking for a Planning Manager – Forecasting & Capacity in Melbourne or Sydney to lead transport planning activities that ensure efficient and effective delivery operations across the network.
This new role will be responsible for managing the end-to-end planning process—from daily transport execution through to medium- and long-term forecasting and capacity management.You will drive the ANC network's robust processes to meet current client volumes while preparing for future growth.
Your leadership will drive accuracy in forecasting, optimise network capacity, and enable seamless transport operations that deliver excellent customer outcomes.What you'll be doingLead and develop the routing strategy and KPIs, including zone design, sequencing, fleet mix, and route allocation.Develop and lead ANC's planning strategy covering daily operations as well as medium and long-term forecasts.Coach and guide teams to build a high-performing planning function.Drive forecasting and scenario planning to optimise network capacity and utilisation.Oversee demand forecasting cycles to balance client needs, capacity, service quality, and cost.Collaborate cross functionally such as with Operations, Fleet, Sales, and Finance etc. to ensure planning aligns with business growth.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, influencing decision-making to drive planning success.Identify and escalate network capacity risks and opportunities for improvement.Foster continuous improvement through data analytics and new technologies.Lead organisational change to strengthen planning capabilities.Manage financial tracking, reporting, and ROI for planning projects.Set and monitor KPIs, taking corrective actions to maintain excellence.What are we looking forStrong experience in planning roles, with at least 3 years managing cross-functional or cross-site teams.Proven experience leading planners, schedulers, or analysts in dynamic, high-volume environments.Exposure to logistics, transport, FMCG, retail, or 3PL environments.Strong understanding of integrated planning cycles—forecasting, capacity, and trade-off decision-making.Experience in planning system upgrades, digitisation, and S&OP implementations.Experience in leading logistics efficiency projects (e.g., routing redesign, network rebalancing, inventory reduction etc.).
Ability to present insights, risks, and scenarios to senior leadership and external partners.Advanced in Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
