**The core capability requirements for this role are**:
- Administer the Service's honours and awards policies/procedures including researching and assessing nominations for awards.
- Advise on budget requirements and co-ordinate corporate level expenditure for honours and awards activities within the Service.
- Provide secretariat services and administrative support to the Honours and Awards Committee including the preparation of agenda, minutes and briefing material.
- Coordinate action arising from the resolutions of the Committee.
- Provide policy advice on issues relating to honours and awards.
- Provide consultancy and advisory services to the Committee, the Commissioner and the Service's senior executive members on award related matters.
- Coordinate award presentation ceremonies attended by the Minister, the Commissioner, senior executives and dignitaries.
- Prepare correspondence and documentation, such as submissions, reports, awards and letters, relating to the Service's honours and awards systems, procedures and policies.
- Liaise and maintain effective networks with all levels of the QPS, relevant government and non-organisations and representatives of external organisations
- Supervise the performance of, provide guidance to, and identify training needs for, subordinate administrative staff.
