Blue Mountains City covers the traditional lands of the Dharug and Gundungurra First Nations people.
The First Nations Visitor Services Officer will work with Traditional Custodians and the local First
Nations community following the cultural requirements to identify, develop, source and coordinate
Indigenous led opportunities to deliver indigenous visitor products including retail products for sale
through the Visitor Information Centres and other Council facilities.
Council will not use any Indigenous IP outside of any legal agreements.

Communications & Marketing team, Managers, Project
Managers, Team Leaders and Officers across the
organisation.
Key External Relationships: Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Custodians
(individuals and groups), organisations representing
First Nations peoples, and individuals of the City's First
Nations community, Government agencies and other
external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The First Nations Visitor Services Officer is responsible for:
Development of First Nations cultural product that meets visitor demand while delivering
on Aboriginal Advisory Councils Pathways Strategic plan and BMCC's Statement of
Recognition and Commitment and strengthen the resilience of our community through
truth telling, knowledge sharing, commitment and mutual respect.
- Mentor and support local First Nations Creatives and artists in business set up and
development of product, packaging and price.
- Negotiate and agree on the volume and price of products, place the orders, display and
promote indigenous visitor products.
- Assist in seeking funding through state and federal grant programs to facilitate the
development of First Nations cultural opportunities while relieving pressure on
operational budgets.
- Contribute to achieving the THRIVE Objective 6.1d from the Community Strategic Plan
2035, Sustainable Blue Mountains: "Implement economic development strategies that
benefit local priority groups, including Aboriginal people, and provide local employment
opportunities by facilitating and supporting initiatives that improve local economic
opportunities for Aboriginal people.'

WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils policies
and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are not limited to
identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your Supervisor or
Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative); never performing a task
that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the experience, or have not
received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct equipment to carry out the
task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety
instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied for the job, in accordance
with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal protective equipment, which the
Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety aware and report any actions to your
line manager which will assist the Council to meet its legal workplace health and safety
obligations.
You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are required at
all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.
COMPLIANCE & RISK
You will support the team in ensuring that risk management responsibilities as described in
council's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Policy and Procedure (the ERM Framework)
are met, with the goal of ensuring that potential issues are identified and reported in a timely
manner.
COMMUNICATION
The person requires strong stakeholder management and communication skills as well as the
ability to plan, prioritise and build relationships with staff in other areas of the Council. They
