**About the role**
National Parks and Wildlife Service has an opportunity for multiple Visitor Service Assistants to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
The Visitor Service Assistant roles are based in Scheyville and/or Bents Basin and working across the Cumberland Area including but not limited to Cattai National Park, Bents Basin State Conservation Area, Scheyville National Park and Rouse Hill Regional Park.
The Visitor Service Assistant provides support to the Administrative Support Officer in all aspects of Park Use Fees (PUF) and visitor services, specifically assisting with:
- Ensuring visitor safety in the park
- Delivering high level customer service to ensure positive visitor experiences
- Promote activities and provide information to visitors on facilities, services and activities available within the area
- Perform park patrol duties (compliance) where required and undertake law enforcement activities including collection of fees and evidence, and issuing of infringements
- Acquire and maintain administrative systems
- Assisting with campground management, including checking in bookings and educating on campground rules
Please note the Visitor Service Assistant roles are required to work on a weekend, public holidays and school holidays.
**About You**
To be successful in the role you will have the demonstrated ability to act independently on matters relating to the entry of visitors to the national park that are not covered by policy and where supervisors are not readily available.
You are friendly in nature, with excellent customer service and negotiation skills as well as sound people and diplomatic skills to deal effectively with cultural differences or limited English skills.
You have the ability and experience in maintaining a high level of vigilance and awareness of personal safety when conducting parking patrol and law enforcement activities and when handling cash which are held until the surplus is collected or banked in the organisation safe.
**Essential Requirements**
- Experience in cash handling procedures.
- Excellent oral communication, negotiation and customer service skills with experience dealing with customer inquiries and the ability to manage such inquiries in a manner that addresses customer's concerns.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake enforcement duties associated with the park use fee system and Environment, Energy and Science/NPWS Regulations, with an ability to work unsupervised and adapt to competing priorities
- Basic computer skills and the ability to operate a two-way radio.
- Current manual driver's licence.
- The holder of this role will be required to wear an NPWS uniform.
- This role involves regular evening and weekend work. This is a shift-based position, under the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009.
- Note: The role is performed on evenings and weekends, and staffs are rostered in pairs to perform this function_
