Regen Nurseries is a leading native plant nursery based in Bangholme, Victoria, specialising in the propagation and supply of high-quality native species for ecological restoration, landscaping, and environmental projects across the region.
With an exciting period of expected growth forecast, we are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Grower to ensure ongoing improvement.
This Nursery Grower role focuses on all aspects of high-volume nursery operations, with a strong emphasis on the propagation and cultivation of Australian native plant species.
The role is vital in ensuring the consistent production of healthy, robust native seedlings to meet large-scale commercial, ecological restoration, and revegetation project needs.
Essential (technical skills/knowledge)
Qualifications and training in Horticulture (Cert 4) or equivalent experience or qualification.
Demonstrated experience in production nursery operations, including the coordination of production stock movement, plant nutrition, pest & disease identification and control.
Experience in overseeing a growing program on a large-scale including coordination and implementation of a nursery maintenance program.
Demonstrated experience leading a team in either a supervisory or managerial position.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with an aptitude for dealing with change.
Experience with automated watering systems.
Excellent communication and written skills.
Experience in procedure development and implementation.
Ability to use a variety of computer packages, including inventory management and Office 365.
General duties and responsibilities
Manage the growth of all plant stock across the entire nursery to produce stock of optimum quality and growth to meet desired timings.
Work in coordination with Production Scheduler, Sales Manager and Dispatch team so that joint efforts are optimised to achieve required targets and common goals.
Oversee automatic watering systems, including seasonal inspections, testing, and maintenance of nursery sprinkler systems to ensure it's running at its optimum (excludes germination and propagation areas).
Maintain records of growing techniques and production to be used for future reviews to identify trends and to assist in planning.
Understand the nutritional requirements for each species, and where required implement feeding regimes in a timely manner.
Undertake weed control (stock and ground level weeds).
Regularly collect, test and record water and media samples to ensure they are at optimum levels.
Ensure appropriate nutrition regimes are put in place.
Manage pest and disease.
Manage and implement nursery hygiene protocols.
