Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia.
The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania's largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Senior Mine Planning Engineer
MMG Rosebery is seeking a motivated Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join our Technical Services Team.
Whether you prefer Residential, DIDO (Drive-In/Drive-Out), or FIFO (Fly-In/Fly-Out) arrangements, we offer flexible options to suit your lifestyle.
With fully paid FIFO arrangements from the eastern states or relocation support to the West Coast of Tasmania, with site-based accommodation in Rosebery.
This role will see you support the Mine Planning Superintendent to deliver against physical plans and strategic objectives by providing timely and workable mine designs and 3 Year schedules - including managing the short term planning function.
Responsibilities Include (however not limited to): Developing, documenting and implementing a formal mine planning and design process commensurate with the complexity of the operation which ensures that the geotechnical considerations, and design recommendations and are adequately considered in all design phases (e.g. Ring Design, Development Layouts, Stope size and shape, etc)
Implementing a formal design approval process which ensures that each relevant component of the work is signed off by the responsible person
Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders to ensure their understanding of the Life of Mine (LOM) schedule tactics, risks and priorities
Develop a rapport with the group technical services team and provide technical mentoring to Mine Planning Engineers
Ensuring ongoing effective people management of staff by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and development through training of employees
Provide input to 13 week forecasts
Utilise the 3 year plan to assist geology produce diamond drilling schedules
Develop strong partnerships with site stakeholders to ensure delivery against short, and medium term strategic objectives
Supervise the mine planning team to develop plans to the specified standards, mine designs must be safe, practical and efficient with the objective to maximise pre-tax NPV
Provide direction for tactical planning of the underground workings, e.g Drill and Blast activities, short term planning function
Ensure compliance with MMG's management systems and all statutory and legal standards
Assist in identifying mine production bottlenecks and contribute towards de-bottlenecking solutions About You: Tertiary qualified Mining Engineering (B.Sc minimum)
Minimum of 5 years mine engineering experience within an underground metalliferous environment
Minimum of 3 years mine planning experience with a working knowledge of Geology, Processing, Drill and Blast and Survey along with primary and secondary Mine Ventilation knowledge
Well developed analytical, interpretive and constructive / lateral thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy
Ability to develop rapport, and build strong relationships with internal customers and suppliers
Effectively manage people and develop staff through regular feedback and coaching
An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site's standards and procedures.
A manual C Class driver's license
First aid certificate – Desirable
Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
