Underground Mining Engineer – Gold, Copper - Residential or FIFO (East Coast Only)

My client, a growing mid-tier mining company, is undertaking an exciting transition from open pit operations into underground mining. This is a rare opportunity to join a technically driven team at the ground floor of a new underground development – not simply taking over a legacy mine, but shaping the next chapter of a long-life operation.

The Role

As an Underground Mining Engineer, you'll be integral to designing and delivering a safe, efficient, and productive underground mining environment. You'll work closely with the Technical Services and Operations teams to apply innovative approaches that set up the mine for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimise mine designs, schedules, and drill & blast strategies
  • Provide technical input for ventilation, ground control, and infrastructure planning
  • Support operational teams in achieving production and safety targets
  • Contribute to mine development projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate across geology, survey, and operations to ensure seamless integration of plans

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering
  • Proven underground mining engineering experience (hard rock preferred)
  • Strong capability in mine design software (Deswik or similar)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • A proactive, forward-thinking engineer passionate about innovation and safety
