**THE COMPANY
Our client is a highly respected and leading provider of construction and building services including: concreting, building construction, building maintenance, plumbing, waste management and facilities management for a diverse range of mining customers and commercial clients, spread throughout the Pilbara and remote areas of North-West WA. They form part of a substantial Public Company with a diverse portfolio of interests, performing well above market expectations.
**THE ROLE**
These roles report to the Operations & Project Managers. As the Earthworks Supervisor, you will provide day-to-day oversight and direction to Leading Hands and field personnel assigned to on-site civils and construction projects. The role coordinates and supervises the construction process from conceptual development stage, through to final completion ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget.
**KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Project Management**
- Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
- Successfully build relationships and networks to obtain new jobs and clients, maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and identifying potential growth opportunities.
- Supervise, prepare and organise building, excavations and general activities related to civils projects.
- Responsible for the coordination of scheduling and allocation of labour, plant, equipment and materials for all new projects.
- Work closely with the operations manager, project scheduler and other supervisors to ensure all works and new projects are scheduled and allocated in line with the master schedule.
- Scheduling of new works following the receipt of purchase orders from the client.
- Lead civils projects by delegating responsibilities, discussing any questions or concerns, providing feedback and directing crews and subcontractors as required ensuring the project is completed on schedule and on budget.
- Attend meetings with other supervisors, leading hands and company representatives as requested to assist with determination of project requirements.
- Ensure the site is compliant with safety requirements and building codes.
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client, project team, scheduler and management.
- Ensure a consistently high standard of work is produced in accordance with specifications and quality standards through regular quality inspections.
- Handling all issues that arise in a professional and prompt manner to ensure clients' needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
**Quoting/Procurement**
- Attending various sites and rural locations to scope new project works and tenders.
- Working with the Project Estimator to supply required information for effective completion of project RFQ and Tenders.
- Assisting with quotations including labour, materials, freight and machinery ensuring all lead times are considered and clients are informed of accurate timeframes.
- Assisting with project proposals, request for quotes, request for tenders, budget estimates and preliminary schedules etc.
**HSEQ & Human Resources Development**
- Carry out regular routine site inspections to identify and rectify risks
- Identify, report and record all non-conformances, incidences or near misses as required by the quality management system
- Carry out toolbox and safety shares
- Ensure required safety KPIs and paperwork is completed on site for all projects
- Coach, assist, mentor and guide individual employees as required
- Resolve conflicts promptly, provide constructive feedback and create development plans if necessary for individual employees.
- Work with the HR Manager to determine position selection criteria, participate and conduct job interviews and reference checks.
- Conduct probation and annual performance reviews including providing both positive and constructive feedback to employees and assisting with creation of development plans in alignment with employee and company goals.
**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**
**Qualifications**
- Formal Trade Certificate or Engineering Degree
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction Operations
- Diploma in Project Management or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and MS Project
**Skills**
- Strong Technical knowledge in Civils - Construction and Earthworks
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings (interpretation) and other documents.
