We're looking for a studio manager to help lead our architecture studio. Your role will involve managing a collaborative team to create great architecture

- Our team enjoys being around each other between 8.30am and 5pm each day, and working in the heart of Brunswick East with easy access to public transport and good lunch spots.

Who we are

At Mihaly Slocombe, we craft purposeful architecture with joy.

Founded in 2010, we're a diverse team of ten (or twelve, if you include Winnie and Fonzie, our furry Chief Happiness Officers) working on an exciting range of houses and schools. We're a friendly bunch that enjoys a strong connection to the local architecture community and grabs lunch together on most days.

Our fearless leaders, Erica and Warwick, also play important roles in the broader architecture profession. They're both actively involved with the Australian Institute of Architects, ArchiTeam and Association of Consulting Architects. Erica is also an examiner for the Architects Registration Board of Victoria. And Warwick writes Panfilo and co-hosts In Detail, a highly subscribed blog and podcast that go deep behind the scenes of creative business.

The role in a nutshell

With the departure of our wonderful studio manager, who's returning home to her family in Sydney, we're looking for an energetic replacement to join our team.

You'll need to be able to work collaboratively, think creatively and have strong attention to detail. You'll need to have hustle and a sharp interest in the welfare of our people and our bottom line. You'll need to use your organisational and multi-tasking skills to help us manage the growth of our team and projects.

Your role will be to work with Warwick and Erica on day-to-day businesses management, as well as long range planning and forecasting. You'll help coordinate our team to meet deadlines across our busy list of projects, and schedule new project enquiries as they come in. Architects should know how to do a bit of everything, and we don't see why a studio manager should be any different - you'll get the chance to experience every facet of our business and the architectural process from start to finish.

What you'll do
- Lead a highly collaborative team environment to produce great architecture
- Coordinate, develop and enhance our design process
- Drive the successful and timely delivery of project deadlines
- Liaise with current and prospective clients to ensure expectations are met
- Oversee business administration and finances
- Help answer the phone, order supplies and protect the studio from succumbing to total chaos
- Work closely with Warwick and Erica to schedule workflow
- Manage the growth of our business including development of procedures, policies and processes

You can do it because
- You have a background in finances, accounting, marketing or human resources
- You have 3-5 years' experience in similar roles at architecture or other creative agencies
- You love design, and being part of the creative process
- You know your way around a spreadsheet, and have great working knowledge of Xero and Microsoft Office

(experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, Slack and Streamtime is a bonus)
- You have second to none time management skills - you love a good deadline and thrive under pressure
- You have excellent communication skills
- You have laser-like attention to detail, know how to prioritise and can multi-task like a champion
