Overview
Groundwater Modelling Virtual Team Leader at SLR Consulting.
This role leads our national Groundwater Modelling team (virtual team of 11 across Brisbane, Melbourne and Wollongong) and collaborates with state-based groundwater and surface water team leaders to deliver solutions for clients.
The role works with the Technical Discipline Manager (TDM) and Hydrogeology Technical Directors to implement the business plan aligned with our global priorities.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the national Groundwater Modelling team as a virtual team across multiple offices.
Collaborate with state-based groundwater and surface water team leaders to deliver client solutions.
Work with the Technical Discipline Manager and Hydrogeology Technical Directors to implement the business plan focused on expanding and enhancing core services, investing in emerging areas, and validating future opportunities.
Contribute to a strong backlog and pipeline of work through technical excellence, practical solutions and strong client relationships.
Engage with other SLR teams and sectors to deliver multidisciplinary projects where needed.
Our Team and Environment
Our APAC Hydrology and Hydrogeology team is one of the largest in SLR Australia, enabling growth and expansion of core business.
This role involves working in a collaborative environment across multiple offices and with other environmental specialists, delivering projects across mining & minerals, built environment, infrastructure, industry and power.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need
7–20+ years of industry experience as a hydrogeologist, including consultancy experience
An appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification
Strong technical background in numerical modelling, hydrogeological conceptualisation, groundwater impact assessment and hydrogeological investigation
Understanding of Australian groundwater legislation and guidelines related to resource development and infrastructure projects; working knowledge of state groundwater legislation, policies, standards and guidelines is highly regarded
Strong commitment to Health and Safety
Demonstrated experience managing and delivering large technical projects, particularly complex groundwater modelling projects
Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation and ability to work effectively within a team
Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
Experience mentoring junior staff in preparing quality reports on time and within budget
Experience collaborating with related technical staff to deliver project solutions
Ability to identify and convert opportunities and leverage client relationships for business development
Proven track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships
Experience or understanding of the broader water market (surface water resources highly regarded)
Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia
