The GI Cancer Institute raises funds for gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer clinical trials research conducted by its parent organisation, the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG).
GI cancers are the most common form of cancer, affecting over 34,000 Australians each year and claiming a devastating 38 lives each day. AGITG clinical trials research finds better ways to treat gastro-intestinal cancers. Their research has led to the improvement in both the life expectancy and quality of life of people diagnosed with gastro-intestinal cancers.

**The Role -**
**Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager**
Joining the leadership team at GI Cancer Institute, you will report to the CEO and take the lead on the national Fundraising strategy. You will be an experienced Philanthropy professional with a background in managing major gift programmes and will have personally led on high level major donor relationships, soliciting big gifts from donors. With the ability to create long lasting donor relationships, you will have the overall responsibility of building donor journeys and connections that engage and inspire.
This is your opportunity to step into a broad management role within an established Fundraising program and diversify your skill set; managing a team that work across community and events, philanthropy and direct marketing, you will focus on the growth of all revenue streams with full support from the board.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and manage the Fundraising strategy for GI Cancer across all revenue streams to include major gifts, bequests, community and events, campaigns and appeals
- Work alongside a dynamic management team, the CEO and the Board to drive a culture of Fundraising across the organisation
- Manage the Fundraising team, working to key outcomes and revenue goals across all streams
- Lead on Fundraising communications to include Fundraising collateral and materials, with the support of the communications team
- Build internal relationships within the research area to build cases of support and develop funding opportunities
- Manage and develop donor journey strategies that deliver long lasting, committed relationships with donors from regular givers through to bequestors
- Personally lead on major gift and bequest activity, managing major donor relationships and soliciting gifts from mid value through to major level
- Tracking and monitoring of all revenue generation across the organisation and responsibility for using the database (Raiser's Edge) to provide analysis and evaluation of performance
- Budget management responsibility across the Fundraising program with direct responsibility for financial targets
- Report back to the CEO and the board on all Fundraising activity
**Your Skills & Attributes**
- Demonstrated success in developing Fundraising strategies that drive revenue growth
- A background in raising funds through philanthropic activity to include major gifts and bequests
- Experience in leading on major gift programmes, from prospecting through to asking for significant level gifts
- Exceptional donor management skills with the ability to design and implement donor journeys and cultivation strategies
- Understanding of the broader Fundraising landscape with the ability to manage cross functions to include community, events and direct marketing
- People management experience with a positive and nurturing approach to leadership
- A data driven Fundraiser with strong data skills and the ability to use the CRM for monitoring, reporting and analysis of activity
- The ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including employees, peers, stakeholders, external funding institutions and various level supporters
- Sound understanding of legal, financial, and ethical issues related to fundraising
