About the role

ABOUT THE POSITION

The position of the Philanthropy Manager reports to the Head of Philanthropy and is responsible for nationally managing the life cycle of Investors from identification, acquisition and throughout their investor journey. A key focus is driving the growth of our Global Investors ($5k-25k) to secure funding across a portfolio of flexible and restricted funding opportunities.

As an experienced Philanthropy Manager and member of the Philanthropy Team, this role:

- Leads the strategy and engagement of Global Investors ($5k-$25k) and select Major Investors ($25k+) to optimise revenue opportunities
- Identifies new prospects then leads the cultivation and stewardship of prospects into investors
- Supports and works in partnership with our volunteer Boards
- Identifies and engages with Trusts & Foundations and PAFS and manages the relationship when an individual and/or family is held internally
- Identifies and nurtures prospects for Bequests, Corporate Partnerships, Immersion Experiences, and Community Engagement
- Supports all functions of Philanthropy, Fundraising and Community Engagement as directed by the Head of Philanthropy including providing insight into annual campaigns and appeals, identifying and maximising campaign matching, reporting, pipeline, data and list management, and general operational requirements.

The role will be involved in developing, regularly reviewing and executing the Philanthropy Operational strategy with the Philanthropy Team in line with the organisation's 5-Year Strategy.

This role requires a confident, professional, mature, entrepreneurial, and authentic go-getter who is highly target driven and loves connecting with people and building relationships. The person in this role must have proven experience in a 'relationship' fundraising environment and is passionate about mobilising individuals and organisations to end world hunger. The Philanthropy Manager is a driving force to build revenue and relationships nationally and will bring fundraising best practice to relationship management at all times that supports the reputation and brand of THPA.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

- The Philanthropy Team ("Team") consists of Head of Philanthropy, Philanthropy Manager, and Fundraising Manager. The Team is responsible for nurturing and growing investments from individual Investors, Trusts & Foundations, and within the Private Wealth Sector. The Team is accountable for the largest portion of the revenue for the business.
- Close cross business collaboration with Marketing, Partnerships, and Major Grants teams
- Works in partnership with CEO and Head of Philanthropy to support the establishment and success of our National Foundation Board

External:

- The Philanthropy Team are the frontline for our investors, driving engagement and connection and as such engages with a wide range of external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Acquisition, Engagement and Relationship Management:

- Implement an engaging investor journey, communications and moves management plan for Global Investors and other investor segments in collaboration with the Philanthropy team and Marketing team where appropriate.
- Stewardship and retention of Investors, nurturing relationships to provide an exceptional experience that engages and retains them and increases their investment year on year, including through regular communications and in the case of Global Investors regular face to face meetings and annual reporting
- Balance flexible and restricted funding and develop engaging opportunities to grow flexible, multi-year investments.
- Proactively identify potential new investors and philanthropists with a view to developing long-term relationships.
- Explore re-establishing contact with lapsed investors with the aim of re-engaging them or understand and learn from the reason they have chosen to no-longer invest.
- Develop proposals for investment opportunities in line with core business objectives for new and existing Investors with the aim of increasing their investment and encouraging them to commit to multi-year investments.
- Establishing a robust pipeline of opportunities and prospect management and utilise this as a tool for tracking, identifying, and maximising giving opportunities in our CRM.
- Identify prospects for Immersion Experiences and nurture relationships both before and after to provide an exceptional experience that engages and retains them as advocates and potential investors.

Administration and Operations:

- Ensures diligent management and maintenance of data in our CRM.
- Ensure a high standard of end-to-end service including writing and sending welcome letters, targeted communications and updates, receipt of invoices, receipts and reports are received in a timely manner.

Financial / Non-Financial Goals:

- Strives to meet revenue and non-revenue related targets and agreed budgets through proactive and passionate engagement of investors.
