**About the Role**
Reporting to the Commercial Manager Trade, the Commercial Specialist's accountabilities and functions include providing commercial support for the trade and property functions across Southern Ports.

The Commercial Specialist will be responsible for supporting and undertaking the assessment, negotiation, delivery and management of leases, licenses, and commercial agreements across Southern Ports.

This full time position will provide commercial support in the development of new trade proposals by liaising with new trade proponents and other key internal and external stakeholders.

**Key Duties**
- Negotiate commercial agreements on sound commercial terms and to mitigate exposure of Southern Ports to risks and liabilities.
- Provide commercial support in managing existing port customer agreements**.**:

- Develop, negotiate and deliver land, port waters and property leases and licenses.
- Manage lease and property valuations and rent reviews.
- Liaise with port customers, property valuers, real estate agents and other key internal and external stakeholders regarding the management of existing leases and licenses and the preparation of new leases and licenses.

**Expertise**
- Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, legal or equivalent is desirable.
- A minimum of five (5) years' relevant industry experience in similar role
- Practical hands-on experience in negotiating, documenting, managing and closing out commercial agreements
- A successful track record of stakeholder relationship development and management
- Experience in analysis and due diligence of commercial proposals
- Experience within the shipping, transport and port operations sectors is desirable
- Proven negotiation skills
- Methodical and precise approach to handling commercial and contractual information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey information in a clear, concise manner
- Good working knowledge of best practice in contract management systems and processes
- Current minimum C Class drivers' license

**Requirements**:
To be eligible for this permanent role, applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Albany, Bunbury, Esperance or Perth and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
