The role
Play a key role in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) as a Participant Follow Up Officer. In this role you will encourage and support participant progression through the program via direct engagement with eligible persons, their general practitioners, specialists and hospitals.
Your key responsibilities
- Follow-up Program participants listed on the NBCSP Follow-Up Report in accordance with agreed policies and protocols.
- Develop and maintain policy and protocols in relation to follow-up processes.
- Regular unexpected high-level problem solving via telephone with sometimes difficult or demanding participants and health professionals.
- Collect and provide data to the NBCSP Register to update the participants' status in the NBCSP Register, as well as collect and provide data for the Qld PFUF database.
The successful person
**The essential requirements for this role are**:
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including ability to liaise with people at all professional levels within and outside the Program.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse issues, establish a course of action and adopt a pro-active attitude with minimum direction.
- Demonstrated, or the ability to rapidly acquire, knowledge of medical terminology, population cancer screening and/or hospital systems/processes and their associated databases, bowel cancer pathogenesis and histopathology.
- Demonstrated, or the ability to rapidly acquire, competent database entry skills, word processing skills and the ability to manage a large amount of information that is often sensitive or confidential.
