The Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co) is the State Government agency responsible for overseeing the delivery of the
Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation and provides governance and an operational structure to one of Melbourne's most iconic cultural spaces: Fed Square
.
MAP Co leads the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, Australia's largest ever cultural infrastructure project, delivering The Fox: NGV Contemporary and the major rejuvenation of Arts Centre Melbourne (ACM), joined together by 18,000sqm of green public space.
It also takes on the management and operations of Fed Square and is responsible for connecting a single continuous art, civic, and cultural precinct stretching from Fed Square through Southbank.
Once the transformation is complete, MAP Co will also manage and activate Laak Boorndap, the 18,000 urban garden that will connect the Melbourne Arts Precinct in a seamless and immersive cultural experience.
Fed Square is the gateway to the art precinct – and as Melbourne's public square it is the civic, cultural and community heart of the city. It home to four of Victoria's major cultural institutions: ACMI – Australia's Museum of Screen Culture, the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT), Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia along with an array of restaurants and cafes. Located opposite the iconic Flinders St Station, it is Melbourne's premier meeting place, tourist destination and event venue for thousands of free events every year.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Act as the primary contact for internal teams, tenants, and contractors
Partner with stakeholders to develop robust project timelines incorporating internal and external approval processes
Oversee fit-out design approvals in line with precinct and tenant requirements
Identify and mitigate risks to ensure streamlined project delivery
Maintain oversight on tenant authority applications (Heritage, Council, Building Surveyor, ESC)
Ensure documentation of all approvals and sign-offs; support tenants in compliance
Completion and final review of site condition (dilapidation) reports
Schedule works around precinct events and other concurrent projects
Coordinate communications with tenants and stakeholders on project impacts
Engage consultants (surveyors, architects, engineers) as needed
Liaise with the Design Excellence Committee and Heritage authorities for final approvals
Coordinate across internal and external stakeholders to manage and integrate project delivery milestones
Review contractor compliance (SWMS, inductions, permits)
Support tenants with traffic and pedestrian management planning
Maintain essential services records (fire, access, safety systems)
Manage logistics in for deliveries, storage, and movement within public areas
Advise on engineering and load restrictions
Support site administration, including inductions and permits
Monitor site conditions and support safety compliance
Maintain GANTT-based project timelines
Ensure information is captured and updated internally for Building Information Modelling (BIM)
Ensure accurate documentation of decisions, minutes, communications, and approvals

Key Selection Criteria
Project management Expertise:
Demonstrated experience delivering tenant refurbishments or fit-outs in complex, operational or heritage environments. Experience in supporting capital project delivery preferably in a cultural precinct and 'live environment' scenarios including public interface. Exceptional organisational and documentation skills including tracking approvals, permits, site inductions, SWMS, BIM data, and condition reports.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across tenants, contractors, authorities, and internal teams Familiarity with risk, safety, and site management processes, particularly in coordinating around live events, activations, and visitor programs to minimise disruption and uphold precinct values. Ability to work autonomously and proactively, navigating ambiguity and taking ownership in high-pressure or time-constrained situations.
Compliance and Governance Expertise:
Understanding of regulatory frameworks, such as safety standards, environmental compliance, and government processes. Understanding of heritage, design, and planning requirements, ideally within a cultural or architectural landmark precinct.
Project Documentation & Accuracy:
Ability to maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date project documentation, including project tracking, action items, meeting minutes, and progress reports. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to ensuring that all records are completed on time, with support in tracking key deadlines and project deliverables. Ability to identify potential issues in project workflows, escalate concerns appropriately, and support problem-solving efforts under the guidance of senior team members.
Experience and Qualifications
A relevant tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, construction, or a related field.(E.g., Certificate IV in Project Management Practice, or a relevant degree in Engineering, Construction, or Business Management)
3+ years' experience in project coordination or management, preferably in a complex stakeholder management setting
Familiarity with project management software such as Monday or Jira . Ability to quickly learn and adapt to other tools used within the organisation
