**Position Overview**

We are seeking a reliable, emotionally resilient, and trauma-informed **Disability Support Worker** to provide **high-level personal and behavioural support** to an adult NDIS participant with **paraplegia, chronic pain, catheter use, and behaviours of concern**. This is a 2:1 support role requiring experience with **clinical care tasks, behaviour management**, and strict adherence to **privacy, compliance, and safety protocols**.

**Key Responsibilities Clinical & Physical Support**
- Perform hoist-assisted transfers (sling, 2-person technique)
- Deliver catheter care, bowel management, and continence support
- Reposition participant every 2-4 hours to prevent pressure injuries
- Assist with personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming
- Administer and monitor medications as per the care plan
- Follow strict infection control and manual handling protocols
- Monitor pain, wounds, and health status; report any concerns promptly

**Behavioural & Emotional Regulation**
- Implement behaviour support strategies with professionalism and consistency.
- De-escalate incidents using trauma-informed, respectful approaches
- Maintain professional boundaries while promoting participant choice
- Communicate clearly and calmly, even in high-pressure situations

**Daily Living & Community Participation**
- Support with meal preparation and feeding where required
- Assist with light domestic duties (laundry, cleaning, tidying)
- Accompany participant to medical appointments and community outings via accessible transport
- Encourage meaningful engagement with daily routines and goals

**Overnight Active Support**
- Provide active overnight support for toileting, repositioning, and urgent needs
- Remain alert and responsive during all overnight shifts
- Document progress notes thoroughly and accurately after each shift

**Essential Skills & Attributes**
- Experience with high-intensity personal care and challenging behaviours
- Emotionally grounded with strong boundary-setting and de-escalation skills
- Respectful of participant privacy, autonomy, and decision-making rights
- Committed to compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, Code of Conduct, and the Privacy Act
- Capable of working independently and within a support team
- Excellent communication, observation, and documentation skills

**Mandatory Requirements**
- Certificate IV in Disability, Individual Support, or equivalent in Health/Human Services
- **Mental Health First Aid Certification**:

- HLTAID011 First Aid and HLTAID009 CPR
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check - Employer version
- Current National Police Clearance
- Infection Control and Manual Handling Training
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle
- Triple COVID-19 vaccination (including booster)

**Highly Regarded**
- Experience with dual diagnosis, ABI, or trauma-informed care
- Experience supporting participants with substance use history or self-neglect
- Familiarity with catheterisation, wound care, stoma care
- Understanding of NDIS documentation and incident reporting requirements
