**Sudd Foundation Employment Facilitator**

Sudd Foundation is appointing a team of facilitators to enable local employment and training providers to engage more confidently and effectively with South Sudanese Australian job seekers to improve their access to employment.

This team will use their cultural and community expertise to engage with job seekers who are keen to work, clarify the types of work they are seeking, and maintain close liaison with agencies to support jobseekers through the job-seeking process and provide post-placement support. In consultation with employment services, they will support jobseekers to access required training, certification, and documentation, and to develop their presentation and interview skills.

The project will include two part-time specialist facilitators for (I) Youth and (ii) Women, and a full-time generalist facilitator and coordinator who will be the primary initial contact for the project.

**Description**:
**The Women's Employment Facilitator**

Through service mapping, active liaison, and coordinated jobseeker support activities, build close connections with employment and training providers to improve employment outcomes for women of the South Sudanese Australian community.

Establish (formal or informal) liaison protocols with each agency to build trust and ensure strong cooperation when mentoring jobseekers through the labour market engagement process, including informal channels for advocating on behalf of jobseekers as issues arise, and clarifying respective roles when actively supporting employment placements with mentoring, employer liaison and post-placement support.

Deliver formal and informal cultural awareness training to employment and training service personnel; establish strong personal connections with key personnel to encourage them to draw on Sud Foundation expertise in resolving issues and developing new employment opportunities for the women of the South Sudanese Australian community.

**Working with small groups and on a one-on-one basis, prepare jobseekers to engage effectively and efficiently with employment and training service providers by**:

- Establishing a suite of jobseeker engagement, preparation supported referral, and post-placement support processes, tailored to jobseekers and to the needs and preferences of each agency, to cultivate agency confidence in the viability of Sudd Foundation jobseeker referrals.
- Identifying each jobseeker's broad vocational goals, capabilities, and capacities.
- In consultation with employment services, support jobseekers to obtain all necessary certification and documentation including resumes, registration forms, worksite tickets, police, and working with children checks.
- Engaging jobseekers in pre-employment activities to develop their presentation, including appropriate clothing for interviews and work; familiarise them with job interviews and other labour market engagement processes.
- In full consultation with jobseekers, preparing notes for agencies to provide background information on individual referrals to explain their skills, work preferences, potential employment barriers and how they may best be disclosed (or not) to employers.
- Consistent with protocols established with each agency, and with the agreement of the jobseeker, facilitating referrals to agencies including accompanying jobseekers to initial appointments with agencies, providing informal background on the jobseeker, and providing feedback to the agency on behalf of the jobseeker to enhance the agency's awareness of jobseeker needs.

Maintain records on their project activities, assist the Facilitator /Coordinator to report to the General Manager and the Board, provide information for annual reports and other Sud Foundation public documents, and to meet reporting requirements of funding providers.

Support the Facilitator / Coordinator and Youth Employment Facilitator in their roles, by sharing contacts, strategies, information, and other resources, and where appropriate, including them in liaison activities; serving as an alternate contact in their absence; collaborating to conducting events and otherwise promote the program.
