We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Claims Technical Specialist to join our dynamic team in Sydney, Australia. As a key member of our claims department, you will provide expert technical advice and support to ensure optimal assessment quality and customer outcomes across our insurance portfolios.
- Offer technical guidance and support to the Claims team on assessment and case management matters
- Optimize assessment quality within Income Protection, Life, Trauma, and TPD portfolios
- Support Claims Managers in building their capabilities aligned with company frameworks
- Review and authorize claims, including adverse decision reviews
- Coach Claims Consultants on executing assessment practices efficiently and effectively
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of claims handling procedures and guidelines
- Provide insights into Case Manager technical capabilities for performance management purposes
- Support Team Managers in developing individual uplift plans aligned with the company's capability framework
- Ensure claims handling reflects industry best practices and company policies
- Drive processes to support technical capability development within the claims department
- Collaborate with Client Managers and Team Managers on reporting and fund meetings
- Contribute to the implementation of governance structures and quality assurance measures

**Qualifications**
- Proven experience in a similar role within Life Insurance or extensive experience as a Life Insurance Claims Manager
- Demonstrated ability to coach and embed knowledge, including upskilling case managers
- Comprehensive understanding of the Life Insurance Code of Practice, Insurance Contracts Act, Privacy Principles, and other relevant legislative or regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and develop strategies to overcome barriers in claims assessment and management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven negotiation and influencing abilities
- Outstanding customer service skills with experience handling a diverse range of clients and stakeholders
- Proficiency in claims management software
- Understanding of medical terminology and conditions relevant to insurance claims
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Health, or Allied Health (preferred)
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Life Insurance or equivalent (preferred)
- Expertise in life insurance claims assessment and management, particularly in Income Protection, Life, Trauma, and TPD portfolios
