
Transport And Land Use Planner

What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Manager Transport Planning, the Transport and Land Use Planner will work within the Social Impact team of RAC's Social and Community Impact division to provide credible, technically sound, evidence-based research and advice, and undertake projects, with the ultimate goal of representing RAC members and community interests. Other responsibilities include:
- Providing, thorough research and data analysis, credible, technically sound, fact-based evidence to support the RAC's transport and land use policy positions.- Contributing to the development, delivery and evaluation of technical projects, demonstration projects and initiatives.- Keeping abreast of industry trends and developments, for example in relation to planning legislation, policies and best practice.- Providing input to and as required prepare reports, papers, submissions and communication materials such as presentations, briefing notes and website content.- Representing RAC at technical meetings with key stakeholders as required.- Consulting with internal stakeholders on matters relating to public policy as required.- Responding to queries from members and external organisations.- Managing consultants as required.
What are we looking for in you?
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced professional who is passionate about social and community impact initiatives within the Western Australian community. In addition to this you will have the following experience, skills and attributes:
- Relevant tertiary qualification (in planning, policy, economics, engineering, science or similar) is mandatory.- 5+ years professional experience working for a planning or transport authority, local government, planning or transport consultancy firm, or similar organisation.- Experience writing policy, discussion papers, submissions and/or reports.- Demonstrated understanding of transport and land use planning/policy, in the context of supporting convenient and affordable travel options and liveable communities.- High level knowledge of other aspects of transport and land use planning, such as network optimisation, infrastructure planning, funding and financing, and/or place making/activation, is desirable.- Strong stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to participate in external meetings and other forums.- Highly developed research skills and ability to undertake desktop and empirical research (e.g. through surveys, trials / demonstration projects).
