About the RoleAs a Speech Pathologist working with Montessori Care, you will assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with communication disorders, speech impairments, and swallowing difficulties.
Your primary responsibility will be to develop individualised treatment plans to help clients improve their speech, language, and swallowing skills.
You will work closely with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to achieve therapeutic goals and enhance quality of life.Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess clients' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.Develop individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings, client goals, and evidence-based practices.Provide therapy to clients to improve speech articulation, fluency, voice quality, receptive and expressive language skills, and social communication.Administer specialised assessments and techniques to address specific speech and language disorders, such as aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and stuttering.Collaborate with clients' families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, share information, and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.Educate clients and their families on strategies to support communication and facilitate progress outside of therapy sessions.Provide counselling and support to clients and their families to address emotional, social, and psychological aspects of communication disorders.Monitor client progress, document therapy sessions, and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve desired outcomes.Stay current on research and best practices in speech-language pathology, attending professional development activities and conferences as appropriate.Advocate for clients' communication needs within the healthcare system and community to ensure access to appropriate services and support.Provide Speech Therapy services to adults and/or childrenProvide group therapy interventionsExperience with developmental delays and disorders, ASD, ADHD, Learning Difficulties, Genetic Conditions, Intellectual Disability and Syndromes (Preferred)About You:Bachelor or Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.License or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the relevant jurisdiction.Clinical experience working with individuals across the lifespan with a variety of communication disorders and swallowing difficulties.Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions for speech, language, and swallowing disorders.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Compassion, patience, and empathy for individuals facing communication challenges.Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advances in the field of speech-language pathology.
