**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Council is seeking an experienced events professional to support the development and delivery of events. This is a great opportunity to play a big part in a small team and get hands on in the design and delivery of a variety of events across a bustling annual events program including signature event the _Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival_.
The Events Officer provides specialist skills and assists with coordination of a range of event related activities, in the key areas of:
- Event and Program Coordination
- Operations, Logistics and Production
- Administrative Support
So if you thrive in the event lifecycle from finding exciting artists and foodies to program into events; then plenty of quality time at a computer in logistics mode production scheduling, managing purchasing, writing risk management plans and marketing copy and finally, hitting the ground at bump in with a production schedule in hand and a radio on your hip, this is the fit you've been looking for.
You'll join the Events and Culture team to develop and deliver events projects, programs and initiatives designed to connect communities with one another and with Cumberland's great local places. The team produces high quality contemporary events celebrating our diverse communities and places, and presenting engaging experiences for event audiences.
The successful applicant will require:
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in events or related industries.
- Strong working knowledge of contemporary event programming and the ability to design and deliver event programs to create high quality engaging experiences for event attendees.
- Demonstrated experience and strong working knowledge of event operations and logistics, production, risk management and compliance, financial administration, marketing and advertising, sponsorship, and stakeholder liaison.
- Working knowledge of community engagement and stakeholder relationship management and demonstrated understanding of the requirements of working in a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to follow established processes and contribute to process development.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve, work autonomously with mínimal supervision, independently and with high levels of initiative.
- Valid Working with Children Check number.
- Current Class C (Driver's) Licence.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.
This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and it may be required to work across any of Council's work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 8 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,235.73 to $1,421.09 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
