**Disability support worker afternoons/sleepover**
POSITION:
Disability Support Worker
RESPONSIBLE TO: Management
Qualification minimum
Working with childrens check (willing to obtain)
Medication Administration (willing to obtain)
Cert 4 in disability support work or similar (lived experience may be considered)
Must have national police check
Must have completed ndis worker module
Must have first aid (willing to obtain)
**1. POSITION OBJECTIVE**
To provide high quality respite support services for adults 18 and over who have physical, intellectual, sensory, and psychiatric disabilities and who are assessed as requiring such assistance to live as independently as possible while attending respite and accessing the community.
To provide support for residents and respite clients during a sleepover shift.
To provide practical assistance in a manner that promotes the independence and dignity of the client and their carers.
Provide carers with respite so that they can have a break from their caring role.
Provide specialist support on combinations of complex aging health issues for adults who have one or more disabilities.
**2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
**DAILY SUPPORTING**
Provide positive reinforcement to clients who require structured routines and may have behaviours of concern. Ensuring you follow their tailored care plans and following strategies provided that work for client.
Assisting clients to attend community activities and social events such as, but not limited to:
Pubs and clubs, dining out, shopping, amusement parks, movies, drive inn movies, spa days and sensory deprivation floatation therapy, swimming, hot air ballooning, zoo trips.
**CLIENT SUPPORT AND MONITORING**
To work under the guidance and supervision of the management of Comfort and Care Respite in order to.
Establish appropriate and effective working relationship with clients and carers. Enhance the confidence and self-esteem of clients and families by listening and demonstrating interest.
Observe and report on Hazardous situations or behaviours in the respite which affect workers duties and the welfare of the client.
Report to the manager of Comfort and Care Respite on any client needs or areas of concern Ensure that the cultural values and beliefs of all participants, including those from non
- English backgrounds are respected
**PERSONAL CARE**
Provide assistance for clients to get ready for bed
Assist or administrator medication when required
Ensure clients maintain their routines
assist in feeding and drinking if required
Showering and practicing personal hygiene
toileting if required
Transfers of required
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week
**Salary**: $31.00 - $62.00 per hour
