What you will be doing
We have an opportunity to join the Finance department as a Financial Planning and Analysis Executive at our Newcastle office for a period of 12 months. In this exciting role, you'll be responsible for ensuring accurate reconciliation of monthly credit card and travel spend statements, authorisation forms, and expense receipts. You will be responsible for preparing and posting journals to the accounting software. Your attention to detail and strong organisational skills will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall finance function.
**Your main duties will include**:
- Managing corporate credit card expenditure and reconciliations
- Preparing and posting journal entries
- Responsibility for the Corporate travel account
- Assisting in the budgetary process
- Maintaining organised and up-to-date records of all reconciliations, supporting documents, and related correspondence.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of efficient reconciliation process and control measures.
- Generating financial reports and assist in the analysis of financial data to support management decision making.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Providing support to the finance team and contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives as required.
Your profile
**Ideally, you'll have**:
**Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience**
- Problem solving skills to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, an propose effective resolutions.
- Proficient in using spreadsheet software, such as MS excel to analyse financial data, create reports, and perform calculations.
- Proficient in financial reconciliation techniques and experienced in reconciling statements/invoices/receipts.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, budget holders, and the finance team.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, managing multiple tasks and prioritising efficiently.
**Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Experience**
- Understanding of accounting principles and the ability to prepare and post journals, experience of Sage is advantageous.
