The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support people of all ages with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.
We are currently seeking values-driven and proactive Intake and Assessment Workers, reporting to the Team Leader. You will help create a safe space for people seeking assistance in line with Trauma-Informed Care principles. This is a casual position located in Surry Hills.
You will successfully
- Support the Team Leader to engage with clients within Trauma-Informed Frameworks & participate in the Intake & Assessment process
- Work in a team to address potential high-risk situations and other work hazards
- Identify service gaps and risks and make recommendations for service delivery improvements to the Team Leader.
- Support clients to encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, including practical caring tasks such as cleaning rooms, making beds, preparing laundry and preparing premade meals and beverages.
- This is a service-based role and includes 24 hour shift work (Days, afternoon, nights and weekends). _
- Applicants must be available to work within a 24 hour shift work roster over a full seven days._
You will have
- Minimum Diploma in Community Services or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working in a community service setting, particularly working with those experiencing homelessness is desirable.
- Senior First Aid Certificate required (or willing to obtain one)
- Food Handling Course required (or willingness to obtain one)
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate desirable
- A current NSW Drivers Licence
- Valid NSW Employee Working with Children Check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
