An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced **Dementia Specialist** to join our **Molecular Imaging Research Team.**
**Details of Department**
The Department of Molecular Imaging & Therapy is the largest in Australia and has three PET cameras, one of which is dedicated to brain research. It is active in the development of new scans for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The neuroscience PET team is currently studying areas that include beta-amyloid and tau imaging in aging and dementia and dopaminergic neuronal imaging in Parkinson's disease. The group has active collaborations with the University of Melbourne, Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, CSIRO, and European and US based companies.

**Role Specific**:
- Provide clinical oversight to the Australian Dementia Network Trial Screening program.
- Answer clinical queries from administrative staff.
- Actively engage in clinical quality, audit, service improvement and research demonstrating leadership to colleagues and students alike.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, nursing and other staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum.
**Teaching, Training and Research**:
- Contribute to the supervision, education and training of junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff, including participating in performance appraisal and feedback processes.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities.
- Commitment to facilitate, conduct and participate in clinical and quality improvement research
- Participate in the auditing and review of clinical practices to improve clinical outcomes.
**To be successful for this role you must**:
- Hava a commitment to Austin Health values.
- Be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent.
- Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Neurology, Geriatric Medicine or Psychiatry.
- Demonstrated commitment and ongoing activity in research by having completed a PhD or other higher research degree, a minimum of five published research papers, current participation in HREC approved research projects and a good understanding of data analysis and statistics.
- Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
- Attendance and active involvement in relevant departmental, organisational and external meetings (i.e. College, Association and National/International bodies).
- Demonstrates engagement, teamwork and collaboration.
- Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Have demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to Clinical Governance.
- Current high level of knowledge about clinical trials in dementia.
