Sydney, New South Wales, Australia University Of Adelaide Full time

(Level A) $102,024 to $109,307 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.
Fixed term fulltime position for 1 year with possibility for extension pending grant funding.
The Respiratory X-ray Imaging Lab (ReXIL) were the recent recipients of an Australia's Economic Accelerator (AEA) Innovate grant to support the translation and commercialisation of university research.
This will allow the team to develop lung function-based respiratory biomarkers through the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning and image processing technologies to lung ventilation data acquired from a functional lung imaging modality called X-Ray Velocimetry (XV).
XV is a revolutionary lung imaging technology developed by Australian company 4DMedical.
XV enables lung motion and airflow to be tracked over time.
This allows the location and intensity of lung disease, and its resolution with treatment, to be measured.
XV produces a very rich 4D dataset (3 spatial dimensions + time), showing lung expansion and contraction, and we are working on understanding the best methods for interpreting this data.
The successful applicant will work with the ReXIl team, AIML, and 4DMedical to turn data into clinical impact.
They will be responsible for developing algorithms for image analysis, creating predictive models for disease progression, and identifying patterns in imaging data that correlate with clinical outcomes.
We anticipate the project will lead to production of scientific papers and dissemination of results through conferences.
The ReXIL and Cystic Fibrosis Airway Research Groups are a team based in Respiratory Medicine at the Women's and Children's Hospital.
We are dedicated to developing approaches to improving and quantifying lung health, across a range of laboratory and imaging programs.
The position will be based primarily at the Women's and Children's Hospital in North Adelaide and the Australian Institute of Machine Learning.
Some interstate and international travel may be required.
To be successful you will need: Completion of a relevant doctoral qualification using image processing, artificial intelligence / machine learning or data science/advanced statistical methods.
Strong experience with scientific computing and data analysis, ideally using python or an equivalent language.
A strong record of producing peer reviewed research-based publications in areas directly related to image processing or artificial intelligence / machine learning.
Demonstrated high level organisational skills, including the ability to plan and coordinate projects, prioritise and manage workload within a busy environment and to meet deadlines, and function largely autonomously with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
